Eco-friendly Remodeling Tips For National Home Remodeling Month

"May is National Remodeling Month; take part by planning ways to make your home more energy efficient and functional."

Spring time is here once again, a time for fresh ideas, creative beginnings, spring cleaning and home remodeling. Homeowners across the country are seeking ways to increase the value of their homes and eco-friendly ways to increase their quality of life.

In honor of National Remodeling Month in May Incredible Renovations, Houston, Texas is offering some eco-friendly remodeling tips to make your spring remodeling experience the best it can be. Incredible Renovations says more and more homeowners are remodeling eco-friendly and starting to make functional green improvements to their homes that will provide immediate results. There are several ways to make your home more eco-friendly by reducing your carbon footprint.

You can start by swapping your hot water heater for a tankless water heater which will make your home more energy efficient. According to the EPA, Tankless water heaters are on average 10 to 20% more energy efficient than traditional tank water heaters and do not consume energy until hot water is being used. They also take up less space than tank water heaters and typically outlast tank water heaters by 5 to 10 years because they are less subject to corrosion.

Another energy efficient way to produce hot water in your home is to replace your hot water heater with a solar hot-water heater. Solar powered hot water heaters get 90% of its heat from the sun and typically have either a gas or electric backup system.

Another popular improvement that can help to increase efficiency is by replacing your HVAC system that may be outdated and aging with a newer, more energy-efficient model that uses smart technology to operate efficiently based on the homeowner`s specific preferences and is Energy Star rated. As smart homes continue to gain popularity, smart thermostats are too. Smart thermostats are able to study a homeowner`s living habits and automatically set up a unique operation plan that will help to cut down on your energy bills while reducing your carbon footprint.

Think green when thinking about lighting. The quickest and easiest technique is by swapping your compact fluorescent light bulbs for new energy efficient light bulbs which will save you up to 75 percent more energy than incandescent bulbs and lasts about 10 times longer.

Another great way to improve the look of your home and yard and save energy is by using solar powered exterior lighting. Solar powered lights are a good way to accent trees and other landscaping features as well as illuminate walkways that will provide additional home security.

Indoor LED lighting is another great way to save energy and improve the interior of your home. LED lights are now used for back lighting, interior cabinet lighting and much more.

  2. Yeah, it is very necessary to take help from some professional home inspector for inspection. These practiced inspectors for all time help you to get rid off of bad molds.
